SmartLipo Laser Body Sculpting – the latest technology for removing fat with a laser

What is “SmartLipo” Laser Liposuction?

SmartLipo fat removal treatments are the latest technology for removing fat with a laser. The technique was first discovered in Europe and has recently become available in the USA. This cosmetic surgery technique has been used extensively in South America, Asia, and Europe for the past decade. The treatment involves the use of a laser that rapidly dissolves the fat being targeted and, at the same time, tightens the surrounding skin. The procedure is done in the office and does not require the use of general anesthesia.

Who is a candidate for SmartLipo?

SmartLipo is an excellent technique for permanent removal of localized pockets of fat which have proven resistant to diet and exercise. The ideal patient is one who is in good health, is not obese, and has an active lifestyle and realistic expectations.

What body regions can be treated with Smartlipo?

SmartLipo is ideal at targeting and removing localized pockets of fat in these areas:

  • Abdomen
  • Waist
  • Chin (double or hanging)
  • Inner and outer thighs
  • Hips
  • Upper arms
  • Males with breasts
  • Back of neck
  • Pubic mound
  • Back
  • Bra bulge
  • Areas of loose and floppy skin

Who should not have SmartLipo?

SmartLipo is not suitable for individuals with:

  • Diabetes
  • Liver problems
  • Blood disorders
  • Kidney problems
  • Heart problems
  • Skin disorders

Is the fat removal permanent?

Yes! The adult body does not create new fat cells. Laser Liposuction permanently removes fat cells. When a person gains weight, the existing fat cells will expand. Consequently, should you gain weight, most of the fat will be deposited in areas untreated by Laser Liposuction. The best way to keep the fat off is an exercise regimen and a healthy diet. Your Laser Liposuction procedure should be the start of a healthy body maintenance program, keeping your body toned and healthy.

Can SmartLipo help me lose weight?

No, SmartLipo laser liposuction is not a procedure for weight loss, but rather a procedure for permanent removal of localized pockets of fat which have proven resistant to diet and exercise.

How is the procedure done?

The procedure is performed in an office or clinic and takes an average of 2-3 hours per session. Prior to the procedure, the targeted areas are marked and a local anesthetic is used to numb the area. The laser fiber is contained in a thin tube, called a cannula, which is inserted into the skin. The cannula is moved back and forth while the laser energy coagulates the blood vessels, minimizing bleeding. This action melts the fat cells, so the liquefied fat can be easily aspirated, and interacts with the collagen in the bottom part of the skin, resulting in skin retraction. The liquefied fat is then aspirated through a different small cannula. The standard procedure takes approximately 3 hours, depending on the area or areas treated.

What is recovery like?

Minimal pain and/or bruising may be experienced. Depending on the location of the treated area, a pressure dressing or a compression garment is placed over the affected area (This helps decrease the swelling). The bruising disappears in 2-3 days, normal activities can be resumed within 24 hours. Mild aches can be relieved with over the counter pain medications. One to two days of rest is recommended, but some patients are able to return to work immediately. The swelling will be reduced within a week. Follow-up visits will be scheduled with the doctor to make sure that your body is healing properly.

When can I expect to see results?

Results are seen immediately, with continued improvement seen over several months. Soon after the procedure, the treated area will appear tighter, compact, and smaller. Within the next 6-8 weeks, the skin and surrounding area will mold naturally and adjust to the contour of the body. The remodeling is a gradual process and optimal results are seen in about 60 days.

Does Laser Liposuction treat cellulite?

The procedure will improve the overall contour of the body, tighten and tone sagging skin, and may improve cellulite.

How many treatments will I need?

For most patients, only one treatment is needed.

When can I return to work after SmartLipo?

This is one of the major benefits of Laser Liposuction. You can return to work within 24 hours after the procedure (Traditional Liposuction used to take weeks, or even months, of painful healing and limited mobility to recover).
